flying with a baby

Let the adventure begin…

Not only was I flying with a 4 month baby I was flying with my Dad that has never flown before, stressed isn’t the correct word to use for how I was feeling.

How was Lennon?

Lennon was amazing. I felt so bad waking him up but he fell straight back to sleep once I put him in the car. Lennon was being a huge flirt and talking to all the ladies at the airport, I had to change him like 3 times before we even got on the plane as his belly was a bit dodgey. He was awake for take off and landing and his ears didn’t seem to bother him at all. He was proper spread out over the seat. We was lucky to get a spare seat next to us so he had his own in the middle. Having lots of toys for Lennon was very handy, But he did love watching a film with my Dad on the tablet. His new favourite thing to watch is Paddington Bear.

How was my Dad?

My Dad was really good too, I could tell he was nervous but I just let him focus on himself and I focused on Lennon. He said it wasn’t as bad as he thought once we had landed.

What I think went well?

I think that we had the whole journey very lucky, everything went to plan and I think I will be doing it all again soon. It’s not any harder with a baby.

What I think was awful?

I think that having to carry carry on suitcases, hand luggage and a buggy and baby was tricky. Next time I will put all the luggage I can under! Lennon decided to poo as we was landing which obviously meant I couldnt change him until We was off the plane. He then leaked all over his new leggins and on his baby carrier!

What I will do on the way home

I don’t think I will change anything, the way we came here was fine and worked for us.

My top 5 tips would be.

  1.  Put as much luggage as you can under in the hold.
  2.  Use a baby carrier for when going through security. Its so much easier!
  3.  Back hand luggage as light as you can.
  4.  Bring a change of clothes for yourself as well as baby. (Explosions will happen)
  5. Just remember it’s a holiday so enjoy yourself!

Now I am off to enjoy some vitamin sea. If you have any questions please write them in the comments or via email/DM.

I’m so happy it went well for you! Our first flight with Gracelyn was when she was 6 months – and it was terrible!! She was teething and we were not given a bassinet. The flight was to Europe so it was extra long and she just couldn’t fall asleep on our laps! I’m so grateful that not everybody had such a horrifying experience as us!
